Bird-watching from the window

I have a new hobby – bird watching. From my front window, I get a bird’s eye view of sparrows enjoying my feeder. It’s a fairly busy road with not much vegetation, so only the most social birds venture into this domain of city life – the odd robin and blackbird, but mainly the sparrows.

It’s late October but still quite mild.  Some critics may say grass needs cutting but I’m walking on it a lot so don’t want to cut too low.

These bright pink flowers seem slightly out of place in mid-Autumn, but I’m not complaining. They have had a second spurt and look very colourful.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is situated in Llanarthney, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is towards the end of the M4 and took about 3 hours from Oxford. It is well worth a visit. I liked the wide open spaces, well designed grounds and interesting collection of flower, tree, building and nature. It has been designed to promote and educate about biodiversity and sustainability. The waste water is used to fertilise the plants!

We arrived early to set up the the 5km Peace Run race. Early morning is a good time for photos.
